Congratulations To The Primary Winners

What a great election we have just finished.  Congratulations to Mayor Haslam for the Republican nomination for governor, the nomination of Republican candidate David Hall for 5th congressional seat, the Republican nomination of Steve Dickerson for 21st senate seat and thank you to all of those who still put your name on the ballot and were part of the process that ensures our liberties in this great nation! We all endured a hard primary season but we survived and are much stronger because of the high quality of candidates.

I want to start by saying “Thank You” to everyone who voted for me in this primary.  Last night we earned a staggering 42% of the vote and for that I am humbled.  Even though we were unchallenged it means a great deal to myself and my campaign team that you came out to vote in our favor.

Your ballot serves as a message to incumbents like Gary Odom that their time in office is coming to an end.  We are taking this fight to polls November and with your help we will succeed!  It is time for Odom to come home and it is my duty to make sure that happens.  Please continue to support me in my campaign to be your Representative here in the great 55th district.  Over the next few months you will see me and my staff out on the trail meeting with voters and showing the great impact we will have.

Thank you again to everyone who voted and ran for office.  Good luck to those who will be running for office in November.  We will see you on the trail shortly!

DISTRICT 55 LEFT WITHOUT REPRESENTATION

Over a week has passed since Nashvillians came together in response to an unforeseen flood. Communities have been devastated, lives have been lost, and many have been forced out of work. Those who are part of recovery efforts range from public servants to your everyday individual looking to help those in need.

Our police, fire department and paramedics have been working over time since last weekend to ensure that order is maintained, people are safe and medical treatment is available when called for. Volunteers from around the area are giving their time and belongings to those who have lost everything so that they may regain some sense of normalcy.

Davidson County is clearly a disaster zone created by forces outside of our control. Our government has responded swiftly to make sure that people are safe and to provide whatever assistance is necessary to them.

However, among all the public servants devoting sweat and tears to the recovery effort, there is one who stands out for their lack of involvement. Since the first word came about cars being underwater on I-24 and homes floating down our highways, there has been nary a whisper from one man. This begs the question: Where is Gary Odom?

Gary Odom sits as the representative for State House District 55 and serves as the Minority Leader. The very heart of his district includes West Charlotte Pike where, only two Sunday’s ago, people were rescued from their homes by boat. Their own community leader stands silent to their misfortune. Where has he been the past few weeks when so many local individuals have put their work aside to help their friends, neighbors and complete strangers?

The spirit of altruism has been shown in countless examples the past few weeks. This attitude gave rise to the idea of the Volunteer State many years back. Our fellow citizens embody these values; our own elected leader does not.

A simple Google News search reveals that Gary Odom has not issued a single public statement, a helping hand, or a reassuring voice to those he claims to represent. How can someone who is elected to be the people’s voice act the complete opposite of those residing in his district?

Odom also represents portions of Bellevue, which was one of the hardest hit areas. They still have not heard from Odom.

People have died, entire neighborhoods have been wiped out and their representative stands silent. Over a billion dollars in damages are being recorded and Odom has yet to issue a single comforting word.

Families have been torn apart because either their home has been destroyed or a loved one died in the storm. Homes can be replaced. Lives cannot. Their own leader could care less.

Gary Odom cannot be trusted. Doesn’t District 55 deserve better? Don’t they deserve a leader who cares for those around him?

Timothy Lee Announces Intent to Seek District 55 House Seat

In 2008, we made a good showing at the polls.  We managed to acquire 34% of the votes in District 55.  While some viewed this as a loss, I view it as a great start.  It is true that our opposition is an entrenched politician that has managed to stay in office by virtual of no opposition.  We intend to change this injustice.  Gary Odom will be challenged and be held accountable to our district for his actions and it is time for him to answer to you and I.  2008 was when we started this campaign and we will finish it come 2010.

I am formally announcing our intent to seek the office of Tennessee State House of Representatives for District 55.  I encourage you to join us as we campaign and reclaim our right for true representation.
